TOEFL Listening

Questions in the TOEFL listening section will test your ability to understand English language in the situations that are typical for a college student.

For example, you will listen to a short lecture and understand it. Next, you will need to answer 5-6 questions about the lecture.

Listening Section Format

  • Task # 1: 4-6 lectures, 3-5 minutes each, 6 questions per lecture. Time: 60-90 minutes

  • Task # 2: 2-3 conversations, 3 minutes each, 5 questions per conversation. Time: 60-90 minutes
